Vehicle Programme Leadership and Support
A core strength of Ricardo’s Defence Systems and Technologies Group is the development and production of low-volume niche and special vehicles for applications such as peacekeeping, rapid deployment, border control and specialist policing.
Ricardo has significant experience upgrading existing military vehicle fleets and designing completely new vehicles. Example programmes include Navistar's Future Tactical Truck System project. Ricardo was selected as Navistar's engineering partner for FTTS, an opportunity to showcase advanced developing technology. Ricardo is also supporting L3-Communications with the development of the Ranger family of light armoured vehicles which can be configured as either an Armoured Personnel Carrier, Logistics Truck or Utility Support Vehicle. In addition Ricardo has undertaken a number of drive transmission design, development and prototype manufacture projects on both tracked and wheeled armoured vehicle applications.
