Ricardo has a dedicated machine shop, with all of the facilities necessary to manufacture either complete transmissions and driveline systems or single components for Automotive, Off Highway, Marine and specialist applications

With a recent £3m + investment in machine tools and people, our dedicated machine shop includes, Computerised Heat-Treatment, Full Form CNC Gear grinding, Spline and Jig Grinding and Pallet Change Horizontal Machining Centres for case machining
Ricardo’s fully computerised Heat –Treatment facility operates 24 hours per day. This includes the latest sealed quench furnace technology. All of our processes are backed by full laboratory Facilities that include Nital Etching. Full certification is offered with all sub-contract Heat-treatment operations
Oerlikon Opal 80 CNC Full Form Gear Grinder. Ricardo has the capability to tooth grind spur and Helical gears, both externally and internally to a master gear standard. With a range from 1.5 to 16 mod and a maximum of 999 teeth. For that special component where no hob is available, Ricardo has the ability to grind teeth from the solid blank
For higher volume gear ground parts we have our new Reishauer RZ362A CNC Gear grinder
Coupled with this we have our CNC Gear Measuring Machines. All aspects of the gear (profile, lead etc) are measured and recorded, with a hard copy of all records made available to the customer
Hobbing and Shaping. Our investment in the latest Pfauter gear hobbing and shaping technology enables us to stay ahead of the field in all aspects of gear manufacture. We are able to offer both high productivity and excellent Accuracy, resulting in either a first class “Finished Cut” gear or a perfect blank ready for tooth grinding
Our 15 CNC Lathes and 14 CNC Machining centres are Manned by fully skilled setter operators and run 24 hours Per day. Parts are machined from a full range of materials, from Alum, specialist steels to titanium and are individually protected from damage between operations
Spirol Bevel Cutting is performed on our Klingelnberg C28P Palloid Spiral Hobbing machine. Our specialist machine produces Crown –wheel and Pinions with a Palloid form that produces a smaller and stronger tooth than the cyclo-palloid
