Embedded Electronics Design

The challenge of designing, integrating and validating automotive electronics becomes ever more difficult as future system requirements continue to demand complex solutions

The embedded hardware and software electronics design team within the Ricardo Controls and Electronics Group has a huge range of expertise and experience in embedded design at all levels from 8, 16 and 32 bit microprocessor core architectures through to high power electronics for Hybrid and Electric vehicles.

Our highly qualified engineers have deep knowledge and experience of electronic products and systems development to the stringent quality standards necessary for the automotive environment. Our embedded hardware and software engineers have considerable industry experience in control electronics for gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions and chassis systems and of a full range of interior systems from door modules to telematics and infotainment. Complementing this is our knowledge and experience of power electronics design at all levels including high power applications within the electric and hybrid vehicle arena.

Automotive embedded electronics require special packaging consideration and to address this we have dedicated mechanical design engineers working alongside the electronics designers to create packaging solutions to meet the thermal management and harsh environmental criteria.

Our competencies cover the complete range of automotive electronic design activities from specification through design phases to testing and validation. Our portfolio of completed projects ranges from small design consultancy projects through to development of full turnkey solutions to production launch.

The skills, experience and resources available within this group put us in a unique position to offer clients a complete design service encompassing all levels of electronics and software development from concept to final production design for automotive and similar industries whatever the size of project.
